UPDATE 12-23-2013: Or, you can just do what the alert says and log in to your account. This will effectively get rid of the alert; it may take a few minutes and you’ll receive an e-mail message saying that you acknowledge the message.
Are you getting a Comcast alert when browsing the Internet? I’m currently getting close to my GB limit, which is the reason why I’m getting an alert. I’m happy to pay extra should I actually go over, however, the alerts take an inordinate amount of time to go away and are annoying, especially when I’m doing research for my projects. Here’s a quick way to get rid of it:
- Create a bookmark within your favorite browser.
- Save the bookmark to your bookmark toolbar for easy access (i.e. a single button click).
- Edit the bookmark and for the URL, enter in this text:
javascript:var del = document.createElement('div');del.id = 'del';del.appendChild(document.querySelector('#comcast_content'));
So, every time an alert pops up, read it, and then click on the bookmark button on your toolbar.
Of course, the other alternative is to follow my advice here and only use SSL-enabled sites (hint: StackOverflow supports SSL!). HTTPS Everywhere is a helper extension in Chrome that forces SSL on all sites and allows you to pick and choose which sites will use SSL.
